Furnace Pipe Manifolds
Generally, manifolds should be located near where the operator finds the information that motivates him to operate these manifolds. Therefore, they must be located where they are easily accessible either from a platform or at grade and should be located close to the furnace; the only exception being the manifolds operated in case of emergency.
The snuffing steam manifold and the fuel shutoff valves should be a “safe distance” away from the furnace. Normally this means no closer than fifty feet horizontally from the furnace.
