Operating Burner With Oil Burner Turned Down
Don’t expect an oil burner to operate well when turned way down. Oil burners simply won’t turn down like a gas burner will. Several interchangeable oil guns with different-sized ports can be used to extend the turndown capability of an oil burner.
Oil burners do not turn down mainly because you have to keep the oil pressure up for good mixing. Hence, the first rule when burning oil: If you are going to burn oil, burn lots, not a little. The only way to burn a little oil is to put it all into one burner or, at most, a few burners, so the burners operate at a high enough oil pressure to give good mixing.
